i'm still full
so today, i ate a one-pound burger at a movie theater. and as a result, i received a free movie ticket. thank you, stomach.went and saw march of the penguins with liz, grandma, and aunt erin. really good movie. i couldn't help but think of two things, though: 1. is there anybody else in the world who has had more narration parts in major films than morgan freeman? and, 2. if i was a penguin, would it be fun? i think it might be... except for the treks across snow-covered deserts while nearly starved to death, and weathering brutal antarctic storms. other than that it looks like a pretty sweet existence. plus, they just plain look cool. is there any other creature in the animal kingdom who pulls of the "humorously dignified" look as good as the penguin? i think not
every day i continue to be amazed at the current state of affairs in the hurricane-ravaged regions down south. it makes you feel small and insignificant, and wonder why a loving God would cause something like this to happen. we're only inconvenienced by the spike in gas prices (and don't get me started on how much of a contrived "emergency hike" in prices that is. it's much more likely to be disgustingly blatant extortion), while there are entire cities that are just completely gone down south. how do you even start to rebuild... or do you? if it was your house in new orleans that's still ender a few feet of water, do you just give up on it and start over somewhere new? what about the mortgage you still owe, the friends and family and memories you're leaving behind? what of all that? it's a decidedly unenviable situation, and my heart and prayers go out to everyone affected
i'd almost forgotten the beauty of the sunday-after-church-nap over the course of the summer. i became intimately reaccquainted with it this afternoon... gosh do i love naps. mmmmm
if you have any suggestions for things to see or do during the upcoming great american road trip, i'd love to hear them. we have a huge and open itinerary, so nothing is too far-fetched... as long as it's cheap and you can drive there, we're on it

OK, here ya go. Drive the interstate across Kansas from east to west. The scenery will, at first, amaze you (Does that grass REALLY go on FOREVER? Are there really NO trees?) then bore you to tears. But that's not what you're going for. Nope. You are going there to enjoy museum alley. Kansas has no tourism industry. Consequently, bright opportunists have set up various and sundry WEIRD museums all across the state. You could see the three headed cow and the bull with eight horns and the world's largest collection of dust bunnies. We've taken a few drives out that way and I always wnated to stop and gawk, but we were always on a schedule. Do it for me and take lots of pictures!
Hmm. Where else? The Grand Canyon is cool, Yellowstone is a must see, Niagra Falls is great (make sure you don a raincoat and go in the caves under the falls) and, oh yes, you must SEE ROCK CITY and RUBY FALLS; That many billboards couldn't possibly be wrong!
lowell, michigan. my place.
cedarville, ohio. k-perry's place.
i would recomend glacier national park and also you should see the grand tetons. the way the tetons simply rise straight up of the plains is amazing. jackson hole is right down the road from the tetons and is pretty cool.
